- First Light Local
First Light is a Center for Homeless Women and Children located in the heart of downtown Birmingham. It offers the only emergency shelter accepting homeless women and families 24 hours a day in the area. In addition, First Light also offers a permanent housing program.

- Pathways Local
Pathways provides emergency shelter and comprehensive support services designed to help women and children experiencing homelessness regain stability and achieve self-sufficiency. Their programs offer essential resources and a nurturing environment to foster growth and empowerment. See programs below:
Day Center- provides daytime emergency shelter and basic services to women and children experiencing homelessness
Safe Haven– provides permanent supportive housing for single women experiencing homelessness with severe mental illness
Stepping Stones- offers overnight emergency shelter to unaccompanied women and mothers with children
Early Learning Center– provides high-quality childcare for children 8 weeks to 6 years old, free of charge for families experiencing homelessness.

Their goal is to help you understand that placing your child for adoption is a gift. Adoption is not abandonment. It is a selfless, brave decision you make for your child. It isn’t giving your child away, it is giving your child a chance to have a loving, stable, permanent family. It isn’t putting your baby up for adoption, it is putting your child first, doing what is in the best interest of your child.
