ASU Students for Life Downtown

ASU Students for Life works to bring awareness to pregnancy resources and provide support to pregnant and parenting students. They coordinate with departments on campus to advocate for resources, rights, and accommodations, such as free childcare, parking passes, material needs, etc.​

Student Advocacy and Assistance is a central resource for student assistance at ASU. Our office links students with campus and community resources to support the achievement of their academic goals and ensure their health and well-being.

Campus Resources

Diaper Changing Stations: There are 2 diaper changing stations on campus. To view the full list of locations, go to the campus map, click “accessibility” and “universal changing station”

Lactation Rooms: There are 8 lactation rooms on campus. To view the full list of locations, go to the campus map, click “services” and “lactation”

Family Restrooms: There are multiple family restrooms on campus. To view the full list of locations, go to the campus map, click “accessibility” and “family restroom”

On-campus Childcare: There are three childcare options offered to children of ASU students:

1. Child Development Lab: The Child Development Lab provides a nurturing, play-based environment where children 20 months through 5 years learn, explore and grow. Families become partners in a community dedicated to supporting children’s development and lifelong learning.
2. ASU Prep Academy: ASU Prep Academy is an innovative, tuition-free public charter school network, serving students from Pre-K to grade 12.
3. Reach Institute: The Reach Institute works with communities to develop, evaluate, and scale evidence-based programs and resources to promote well-being for individuals, families, and communities.

Family-friendly Spaces: Each of the ASU campuses have a variety of no-cost opportunities for students and families to relax, play, learn and explore. These majority of these spaces serve a diverse range of ages and interests.

Health Center: Offers Pregnancy Testing and Referrals

Counseling Center: Counseling support is available 24/7 at no cost. To learn more, visit Open Call and Open Chat and Where to Start. 

Family Housing/Suites Available

Library Resources: specific resources for students with families

Online Education: Eligible ASU Online students are automatically considered for scholarships at admission after submitting a FAFSA. No separate application required.

Financial Help

The Student Crisis Fund aims to help alleviate unexpected barriers that impact student persistence and attendance. If you have experienced an emergency that has created an urgent financial concern directly affecting your ability to participate in required academic activities or remain enrolled in your current classes, you may qualify for assistance.

Eligible expenses include:

• Technology required for coursework such as essential devices or internet access needed to participate in academic activities
• Immediate basic needs including food or housing
• Short-term essential utilities such as gas, water, or electricity
• Emergency medical expenses
• Transportation required for attending classes or required academic activities

Sun Devil Childcare Subsidy is designed to help ASU Sun Devils with dependents offset a portion of their child care expenses while pursuing their degree. Through student-funded support, the program aims to maximize assistance to as many eligible student parents as possible. All eligible students are encouraged to apply, including domestic, international, online, immersion, and students from all campus locations. Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Child Care Subsidy provides support to low income, Pell-Grant eligible, undergraduate student parents, whose children are enrolled at ASU’s Campus Children’s Center, located on the Tempe campus. The U.S. Department of Education provides funding for this program.

Campus Policies & Accommodations

Arizona State University is committed to ensuring all students who are pregnant or are experiencing medical challenges due to pregnancy or childbirth are able to continue in ASU’s education programs and activities. In our commitment to allow students to return to the same academic status as before a pregnancy, Student Accessibility can work with you to foster your continued participation in a program, whether that be with academic accommodations such as absences or assistance requesting a leave, or through other requested accommodations. Student Accessibility is the office on campus that works with students who wish to request an accommodation. In order to receive support and accommodations due to pregnancy related needs please register with Student Accessibility and Learning Services.

Students requesting services due to pregnancy should be prepared to submit documentation regarding the pregnancy, any complications and clearance to return to school related activities.
