This is permanent housing and families may stay indefinitely, though most choose to move on when they have achieved stability in terms of employment and income.

Madonna House is a shelter for pregnant women and single mothers with young children. Madonna House requires all residents to work on fulfilling needed parenting, educational, and vocational skills so as to become the best possible mother for both her child and the community at large. Residents of Madonna House will be accepted regardless of race, religion, or socioeconomic status. The necessary support will be provided for those residents choosing an adoptive arrangement.

Catholic Charities owns and operates two eight-unit apartment buildings in Elsmere, which together house sixteen families. With funding provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we provide intensive case management services and assistance to these previously homeless families and individuals. This is permanent housing and families may stay indefinitely, though most choose to move on when they have achieved stability in terms of employment and income.
