Following the miraculous birth of Adriana Smith’s son, Chance, born at just one pound and 13 ounces, Students for Life of America (SFLA) and our Standing With You (SWY) initiative arranged delivery to the hospital of $24,415 in donations, raised during the past month. The Pro-Life Generation from across the country worked together to help cover the Georgia mother’s expenses and support her son Chance’s continued care in Emory Hospital Midtown’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) run by Emory Healthcare.

“In the midst of this difficult and confusing time, we hope the love and prayers of the Pro-Life Generation remind Adriana’s family they’re not alone, and that Chance’s life brings light and hope,” said SFLA President Kristan Hawkins.

Adriana Smith was a nurse, daughter, and devoted mom. In February, at nine weeks pregnant, she suffered a devastating medical emergency. She was kept on life support to give her preborn baby boy, Chance, a chance at Life.

Standing With You launched a LifeFunder page to help provide the family with additional funds needed for medical expenses. Thankfully, Chance was delivered via caesarean section and reportedly has a good prognosis, though he is still in the care of the hospital.
