It’s springtime, and as our world once again comes alive through new greenery and blooms, Standing With You is celebrating one of our student groups that deserves to be recognized for their outstanding work in protecting preborn lives and supporting parents. Congratulations to our April Group of the Month, the Pro-Life Patriots at Dallas Baptist University in Texas!

We have selected the Pro-Life Patriots, a Students for Life of America group, as they have creatively and efficiently found ways to care for preborn children and women on their campus and in their community. Standing With You salutes this group, and we hold them up as an excellent example for others in the pro-life community. Read below to hear from their group president, Brooke Rizuto (who is also Students for Life of America’s Texas Regional Intern), and to learn more about this great group:

“Our group, the Pro-Life Patriots at Dallas Baptist University, has made great progress in the last year and a half. The 2021-2022 school year marks the second year our group has existed on campus, and for a new group, setting up a pregnant and parenting scholarship seemed like shooting for the moon.

“We see groups all across the country making an impact on their campus with their pregnant and parenting scholarships. When we sat down with our campus administrators, they loved the idea, but we hit a major roadblock because in order to have a scholarship of any kind on campus, it has to be an endowed scholarship. This meant that our new group would have to come up with $50,000 to set up our scholarship.

“Knowing this would be unreasonable for such a new group, we got creative. We decided to spend a couple hundred dollars to make cards. We bought greeting cards and put $50 in gift cards in each to places like Target, Walmart, and Amazon. We left a handwritten note in each, and we look forward to touching the lives of pregnant girls on campus through these notes.

“It may not seem like a lot, but sometimes all it takes is knowing that someone prays for you, loves you, cares for you, and is here for you. The cards are placed in the counseling office, the nurses’ office, and in the student affairs office. We are notified when these cards are sent out and when the offices are in need of more. It’s a great way for us to still make an impact and touch the lives of pregnant women on our campus!”

The Pro-Life Patriots are a wonderful example of the innovation and the heart of the pro-life movement as they work to the best of their abilities with their available resources to help the most women possible. This kind of loving care is why women never need to fear a Post-Roe America because our pro-life groups will always stand with you. Congratulations again, Pro-Life Patriots—you are doing amazing work. Keep it up!
