Tabitha’s Closet is a free clothing ministry of the Winthrop United Methodist Church solely supported by donations and volunteers. Its primary mission is to provide, at no charge, clean gently used apparel for children and adults, footwear, linens and personal care products in the greater Winthrop community and is open to anyone in need.

They strive to help individuals and families in Maine meet their basic, material needs by providing donated clothing, hygiene products, household items, and other necessities in an environment of dignity and compassion.

The China Community Food Pantry offers two programs, the Federal Food Assistance program for Town of China residents only, and a wider community area program of fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, and used clothing.

The Harold Alfond College Challenge is a scholarship program in Maine that gives a $500 grant to every newborn whose parents open a college savings account with NextGen. Any baby under one-year old is eligible. To stay eligible, the child must stay a resident of Maine until they enter college.
